Nine UMass Amherst researchers recognized as among most highly cited in the world
Nine researchers at the 麻豆视频 Amherst have been recognized for being among the world鈥檚 most highly cited researchers in 2021.
The analysis by Philadelphia-based Clarivate Analytics, owner of the , serves as the basis for regular listings of researchers whose citation records put them in the top 1 percent by citations for their field and year.
The highly anticipated annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. The methodology that determines the 鈥渨ho鈥檚 who鈥 of influential researchers draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at the .
The nine recognized in 2021 for their work at UMass are three food scientists: Professor Eric Decker, Distinguished Professor David Julian McClements and Professor Hang Xiao; two microbiologists: Research Assistant Professor Kelly P. Nevin and Research Professor Derek Lovley; polymer science and engineering professor Thomas P. Russell; Goessman Professor of Chemistry Vincent Rotello; Armstrong/Siadat Endowed Professor of Chemical Engineering Nianqiang Wu; and Professor of Environmental and Soil Science Baoshan Xing of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture.
Now in its eighth year, the citation analysis identifies influential researchers as determined by their peers around the world. Clarivate says their 2021 list contains 24 Nobel laureates, including five announced this year.
